Bio

Daphne van den Blink, born in 1985, graduated successfully from the KASK film school in 2017, with the short documentary ‘Common Ground’. A film that highlights the migration theme in an intimate way. 2Doc.nl included the film on the ‘Makers of Tomorrow’ digital platform. A platform for young, debuting, documentary talent. Besides a Master degree in Audiovisual Arts, Daphne van den Blink also obtained a Master in Art Education at LUCA School of Arts and a Bachelor degree in Social-Cultural Work at Hogeschool Utrecht.

Daphne participated in the first Belgian Ket&Doc workshop. The Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) and broadcaster KETNET selected her to make ‘Papamagneet’ which premiered at JEF Festival in 2020 and was selected for DOK Leipzig, Docville and Chicago International Children's Film Festival. ‘Papamagneet’ is a documentary for children about missing and how to deal with it.

Daphne’s debut feature-length documentary, 'Standby', had its world premiere at Docville, followed by its international premiere at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival. On board the navy ship Louise-Marie, a new group of sailors is confronted with the challenges of this seafaring micro-society. ‘Standby' portrays the journey of four young adults during a crucial NATO training where they experience what it means to be on standby every single day.
Daphne is currently writing her first fiction feature film and the screenplays for two medium-length animated films.
